PETS DELIVERY EXPERT

Planning pet travel
with Air Astana.

Resolve the animal’s journey before committing to yours.

Independent review of official airline pages and request forms on October 16, 2026. Read confirmed limits alongside the questions that remain unresolved.

1. Build the journey file

Before buying an inflexible ticket, collect your dates, every operating carrier, cabin class, animal count, species, breed, age, animal weight and loaded-carrier dimensions. Ask for written acceptance for each flight and keep it with the booking record. A passenger ticket alone is not evidence that the animal has been accepted.

Use the review below to prepare specific questions. It is not a reservation, quotation, veterinary clearance or government entry permission.

2. Check the transport format

Cabin: 8 kg including carrier; Business 26×40×20 cm, Economy 30×47×27 cm. Economy carrier-sharing allows two littermates up to six months, or two cohabiting adults, with adequate room within that weight.

Flight quotas: one Business, four Economy, two hold; A321 EI-KDI is excepted without a replacement limit.

Hold: three-month minimum age, 50 kg including crate; above that, air waybill cargo. Over-40-kg animals need wooden crates. Two same-sized cohabiting animals may share, each up to 14 kg; heavier animals travel separately.

Brachycephalic dogs/cats are cabin-only. Fish, birds and rodents require cargo.

Book and confirm at least 24 hours ahead through the agent or portal; check in at least two hours early. Fees depend on route/weight and are paid at check-in; Dubai hold departures add AED 385. UAE air-waybill-only wording conflicts; confirm Dubai hold availability before booking.

Airline document list: veterinary passport, veterinary certificate, microchip or tattoo.

Pet policy.

3. Prepare the request

The linked legacy request addresses currently lead to a form selector. Choose English and “Pet transfer”. Required fields include email, name, subject, booking number, ticket number, pet type, transport location, loaded-container weight and description; attachments are available. “Special service” instead asks whether you have a ticket and provides description and attachments.

Use the Request portal. We inspected the fields without submitting a request. If you are still deciding on flights, ask your agent how to check animal space before ticketing rather than inventing a booking number.

In your description, list every sector and make the requested transport format explicit. Ask which evidence needs uploading, whether originals or translations must be presented, and when final acceptance will be recorded. Save the reply and reconfirm after an aircraft, cabin or schedule change.

4. Separate the counting questions

Ask three separate questions: how many animals can this traveler bring, how many can share this particular carrier, and how much animal capacity remains on the flight? Do not turn a container-sharing allowance into a passenger entitlement or treat a flight quota as available inventory.

A general per-passenger limit and mixed-species acceptance were not established. Ask whether cats and dogs can share a flight or carrier, how paired animals count toward capacity, and what replaces the published quota on the excepted aircraft. These are unanswered questions, not new restrictions.

5. Check the carrier and documents

Before purchasing a carrier, send its external measurements, loaded weight and photographs to the airline. Have the animal try it for standing, turning and resting; record any fit concern rather than assuming a dimension limit alone proves suitability. Ask for the current container checklist and the arrangements for water, bedding, ventilation, restraint and airport inspection.

Build a dated document checklist with the airline and the competent authorities. Identify which document is an airline acceptance requirement and which is an entry, exit or transit requirement. Confirm the veterinary timetable early enough to finish it before departure. Ask the airline about age restrictions for the exact route, any breed-specific conditions, airport reporting time and how check-in works after a connection.

6. Obtain a complete quote

Request a written price for the full itinerary: transport format, weight bracket, currency, taxes, airport handling, onward sectors and any cargo-agent fees. Ask whether a change or cancellation affects the pet payment and whether purchasing an extra seat changes the approved arrangement. An extra passenger seat should never be treated as proof of permission for an animal to occupy it.

Keep air-waybill freight separate from an accompanied checked-hold booking. Ask who issues the freight booking, where the animal is delivered and collected, and which charges fall outside the airline quotation. No itinerary-specific price or shipment availability was checked for this guide.

7. Assess assistance-dog eligibility

Air Astana’s published assistance provision covers guide dogs accompanying visually impaired passengers: free carriage outside the baggage allowance, under-seat positioning in rear rows, attached to the owner’s seat at their feet, with leash, muzzle and special-training certificate. It states no flightwide guide-dog limit, but excludes flights to London. Notify the agent or Help Centre beforehand with documents.

The page does not identify accepted organizations, an owner-training pathway, a numerical submission deadline, a per-handler limit, a dedicated dog form, or detailed behavior criteria. Acceptance of hearing, psychiatric or other service dogs, emotional-support animals and dogs still in training was not established.

Assistance policy.

Before relying on this provision, describe the trained assistance and ask which training issuer and certificate wording the airline accepts on each sector. Ask explicitly about independently or owner-trained dogs, public-access behavior expectations, floor space, restraint fit and the number accompanying one handler. Do not infer approval from a vest, online registration or another carrier’s decision.

Check route-specific legal duties separately from airline acceptance. Use the existing service-dog reference for training evidence, route law and government-entry planning.

8. Resolve the remaining route questions

The airline’s regional notes are not a substitute for an authority’s current origin-specific requirements. Ask for a written answer for both travel directions, every operating airline and the exact airport before relying on a general country name. Where the airline’s own pages appear inconsistent, do not choose the more permissive interpretation.

Use our destination guides and assistance-route planning section to locate the next checks. Obtain entry or transit confirmation independently of the pet reservation.
