1. Prepare your journey
Keep an itinerary worksheet and written replies together. Resolve the travel arrangement before making commitments.
2. Ordinary pets
Cabin: dogs/cats/exotic birds; approval required. Israel departures: notify EL AL/booking agent at least two business days ahead. Confirm flight/passenger/container quotas, mixed-species sharing, dimensions, fees. English/Hebrew wording differs. Check London/Dubai direction.
3. Service dogs
Both language pages prescribe 48-hour notice and, from July 1, 2025, documentation from a training organization recognized by Israel’s welfare ministry. They also request veterinary vaccination/sanitation confirmation. Service dogs meeting the conditions travel without a cabin charge. Keep the dog leashed/harnessed from check-in through arrival; EL AL may require the handler’s foot space. Bring a suitable carrier as backup. Threats, disruption, safety breaches or missing documents can lead to refusal/hold transport; damage charges may apply.
For U.S. journeys, the page additionally requests printed transport and relief forms at check-in. Its training/notice conditions need route-specific clarification against the linked form, particularly for individual/owner-trained dogs or late bookings. Use the existing U.S. forms reference; obtain a written decision rather than assuming admission. Emotional-support eligibility, dog count and muzzle requirements remain unresolved. Confirm the submission channel and each operating segment. London and Dubai have separate assistance procedures.

5. Check entry separately
Use the destination guides and service-dog reference to organize a separate entry check for origin, transit and destination. Airline acceptance does not establish border permission.
