Plan animal travel
with GOL.

Confirm the service, route and animal space before committing to travel.

Independent planning guidance for GOL journeys. This is not an acceptance decision, legal advice or a complete government-entry checklist.

Get confirmation for every flight

Prepare each operating flight, airport, connection and date, plus the animal’s species, breed or cross, age, measurements and loaded-carrier weight. Obtain written animal-space confirmation before relying on the itinerary. Recheck after schedule or aircraft changes.

GOL’s current overview allows cabin cats/dogs up to 12 kg including the carrier; Caracas flights have a 6 kg limit. Book during ticket purchase or in My Trips. Cabin pet service excludes flights to/from Fernando de Noronha, the United States and Europe.

The linked August 2026 guide excludes reservations involving other airlines. Have GOL confirm every connection within an all-GOL booking; no current maximum connection count was verified. Airline acceptance remains separate from government entry permission.

Resolve the carrier and capacity discrepancies

The legacy Spanish FAQ specifies rigid carriers 43 × 32 × 22 cm and flexible carriers 43 × 32 × 24 cm (length/width/height). It requires ventilation, absorbent lining and room to turn and change position; flexible carriers need firm internal structure and waterproof material.

However, that FAQ and Pet Pass still state 10 kg, conflicting with the current overview’s 12 kg. Confirm the accepted carrier type, dimensions and loaded weight in writing before buying a carrier.

No current numeric flight quota was verified. The legacy FAQ’s one-pet-per-passenger and one-per-row statements are different from aircraft capacity; have GOL reconfirm them. No current shared-carrier exception or dog/cat species-mixing permission was verified. Ask separately about each animal, each carrier, passenger allowance and flight quota.

Pet Pass places the carrier under the seat ahead and excludes first-row and emergency-exit seating.

Booking cutoffs and documents need a fresh check

For Brazil-purchased tickets, the legacy FAQ gives request cutoffs of three hours domestically and 24 hours internationally, with check-in two and three hours before departure respectively. Treat these as older published timings to reconfirm, not a reason to postpone reserving. The current 48-hour price bands are not a cabin-booking deadline.

Pet Pass collects animal details and documents; opening or submitting it is not evidence that a pet space is reserved. Resolve its outdated weight wording with GOL.

The August 2026 guide specifies six months minimum age, original documents, and ordinarily a veterinary fitness-to-fly certificate valid for up to ten calendar days from issue. It requires valid rabies evidence, describes vaccination as less than one year old, and specifies a 30-day first-dose wait, with no booster wait. A qualifying Brazilian pet passport can replace separate health/vaccination documents; its domestic clinical record may be valid for 30 days, while international records must be made within ten days before boarding. Confirm passport acceptance and destination, transit and return rules separately.

Ask about responsible-passenger age, travelling with an infant, breed restrictions, your check-in deadline and the currently required form. No single current comprehensive answer to these questions was verified.

Check the total and refund conditions

The overview’s per-pet, per-segment prices, more than/less than 48 hours ahead: domestic R$200/250 (USD45/50); South America R$1,000/1,050 (USD200/210); other international R$1,100/1,250 (USD220/250). Local taxes may apply; USD prices concern purchases outside Brazil.

Older tables remain on the same page with lower international prices. Obtain the actual quote and currency for the whole journey, including the exactly-48-hour boundary.

The August 2026 guide limits pre-departure refunds to Flex, Premium Economy and INSIGNIA Business Flex, requested through the Contact Centre; it excludes Basic, Light, Classic and INSIGNIA Business Classic. Do not rely on the legacy FAQ’s blanket no-show refund statement.

Checked hold and GOLLOG are separate

The currently displayed suspension notice covers dogs/cats in GOLLOG and Dog&Cat + Espaço. It is dated June 3, 2024; the live GOLLOG product page still repeats the dog/cat suspension. Do not treat old weight limits or sales tables as evidence that either hold service has resumed.

GOLLOG still advertises other species, including birds, reptiles and wildlife. Its own page requests reservations at least 48 hours ahead via 0300-1-465564 or crc.cargas@voegol.com.br. It lists weekday service 06:00–20:00, excluding holidays; the passenger overview instead says 08:00–20:00. Confirm hours.

For an eligible species, request a separate cargo quote and acceptance decision covering species permits, crate, temperatures, airports, connections, handover, collection and all handling charges. A passenger booking does not reserve cargo. Do not infer unlimited acceptance from the overview’s broad marketing wording.

Guide and hearing dogs have separate requirements

GOL’s dedicated guide-dog page states free domestic/international carriage and asks travellers to arrange assistance at booking or 48 hours ahead through online service. Domestic documents include an identification card with passenger/dog photograph, handler and dog names, training school or independent instructor details and CNPJ/CPF; an identification tag; and veterinary records of multiple vaccination, rabies and deworming. Original documents are required.

The hearing-dog page also states free carriage and the card/tag and health-document requirements. Its accessibility number is 0800 709 0466. Ask GOL how foreign training records and non-Brazilian identifiers are handled.

These pages expressly address guide/hearing dogs. They do not establish a universal policy for every task-trained service dog, owner-trained dog, dog in training, or every non-U.S. route. Ask for a written assessment of the actual assistance task, training evidence, dog count and itinerary; do not equate a commercial certificate with acceptance.

Ask GOL to confirm seating, usable floor space, harness or leash requirements and any muzzle rules for the actual flight. No general service-dog weight ceiling was verified. Its current MEDIF form gives a 72-hour submission deadline, but that does not establish that every guide/hearing-dog traveller needs MEDIF: ask which process applies.

U.S. service-dog travel needs route-specific coordination

GOL’s guide/hearing-dog pages retain Miami-only wording and describe an older CDC-permit process. Ask its accessibility team to confirm the actual route and forms. The pet-cabin suspension should not be assumed to define the service-dog process.

U.S. DOT guidance covers individually task-trained dogs, including psychiatric service dogs, on flights to/from the U.S. Emotional support alone does not qualify. Airlines may require the DOT health, behaviour and training form and, for flights of eight hours or more, a relief attestation. Request the current forms and verified submission channel; a GOL-specific DOT submission route was not established in this review. For an unresolved disability-accommodation issue, ask for the airline’s Complaints Resolution Official.

CDC entry requirements depend on vaccination location and countries visited in the preceding six months. Use its current pathway rather than the airline’s older permit description. Foreign-vaccinated dogs with high-risk-country history need the relevant certification, import-form receipt and registered animal-care-facility arrangements; air-arriving service dogs are not generally exempt. This is not a complete U.S. entry checklist.

Emotional support is not a service-dog shortcut

The current overview and August 2026 guide say GOL does not transport animals under an emotional-support category. A legacy localized page still offers a Cancún-only process and 72-hour medical-document submission. Do not rely on that older page as current approval.

Ask GOL to resolve any claimed exception before booking. A pet might qualify for ordinary pet transport, subject to its route, space and carrier conditions. A psychiatric service dog trained for disability-related tasks is a different question, especially on U.S. flights.

Use official channels and keep a written record

GOL’s current contact page lists GAL online chat, country-specific numbers, U.S./Canada 1 855 862 9190 and international contact +55 11 3913 2027. Check the page for language and operating hours.

Ask for the service category, confirmed flights, pet inventory, carrier approval, documents, deadlines, fees and cancellation terms in one written response. For cargo, use GOLLOG’s separate channel. Send personal and medical records only through the verified airline process.

Use the journey worksheet for unresolved questions. Check the responsible authority for each border and transit, including return travel; airline acceptance, border permission and public-access rights are separate decisions.
