PETS DELIVERY EXPERT

Flying with a pet
on Vietnam Airlines.

Plan the service, flight, carrier and fee before committing to pet travel.

Independent planning for direct journeys; unresolved policy differences are identified below.

Request pet acceptance before travel

Contact a Vietnam Airlines sales office at least 24 hours before departure.

An indexed official online request page describes checked-pet details, a health-certificate upload and a payment stage. Its rendered form, booking eligibility and payment operation were not verified. Use the sales office if unavailable; do not assume it supports cabin pets.

Confirm the exact flight, service, animal, kennel, full price and payment deadline. No pet-specific card, cash or airport-only payment rule was verified. A passenger booking does not itself confirm pet acceptance.

Separate flight, passenger and kennel limits

Cabin: dogs/cats aged at least 10 weeks; maximum 6 kg including carrier; 35 × 30 × 20 cm, width × length × height. Hold: dogs/cats aged at least 10 weeks and ornamental birds; maximum 32 kg including kennel; nine pets per flight and three per passenger.

Cabin allocations per flight/class: A321 Business one; Premium Economy two; Economy two. A350/B787 Business excludes ordinary pets. The main rule specifies one animal per cabin carrier.

The FAQ’s two-pets-per-passenger and cabin-sharing text conflicts with the main cabin rule. Checked-cage sharing also has conflicting 14 kg wording: main page includes the kennel; FAQ omits it. Obtain explicit approval; do not infer an exception.

No current antagonistic-species separation rule was verified. Disclose all species and ask about available flight space and approved kennel occupancy.

Confirm carrier suitability and health

The main policy requires natural movement, ventilation, a secure door, leak-resistant floor, fixed food/water containers and removed/folded wheels. Wooden cages are for cats only.

Pets must be healthy, vaccinated and non-disruptive; pregnant pets are excluded. Extreme weather can cause refusal or a Certificate of Adaptation requirement.

The indexed checked-pet form requests a hard cage; this does not establish cabin bag eligibility.

Send all exterior kennel dimensions and loaded weight. No universal checked-kennel dimensions or numerical temperature cutoff was verified.

Resolve breed restrictions before booking

The breed list linked from the pet page prohibits multiple short-nosed and other dog/cat breeds.

Another indexed official PDF separates cabin and hold restrictions and differs for some breeds. No exception is promised here for Boston Terriers, Pugs, Shih Tzus, Exotic cats or Persians.

Ask for a written answer covering the breed or mix and intended service. Neither small size nor available space overrides breed restrictions.

Check route and arrival restrictions

The airline excludes dogs between Vietnam and the US and cabin/checked pets for Australia. UK arrivals use cargo; departures permit checked-pet/cargo arrangements.

For Singapore, the airline recommends landing 1.5–2 hours before CAPQ closes and warns of overnight holding fees for out-of-hours arrival.

These are airline statements, not an independently verified government timetable. Check current entry requirements and CAPQ hours with Singapore authorities, and confirm clearance arrangements before choosing a flight.

Prepare documents and allow airport time

Prepare applicable health, departure-quarantine, destination-entry and pet-passport documents. Requirements depend on the country and animal.

The airline recommends arriving at least two hours early for pet check-in.

A Waiver of Liability is linked for advance preparation; review it before signing.

Confirm any earlier station reporting time and the arrival collection process directly. A complete pet-specific refund schedule was not verified.

Keep cargo and disability-task dogs separate

Vietnam Airlines Cargo requires advance arrangements and applies its own animal, breed, health and handling conditions. It does not guarantee a fixed hold temperature. Request a shipment-specific acceptance decision and quotation; passenger pet fees and quotas are not a cargo tariff.

Dogs trained to perform disability-related tasks have separate arrangements; confirm eligibility and documentation.
