Asiana’s December transition: what to recheck for a pet booking

A September announcement schedules Korean Air operation from December 17, 2026. Pet travelers should verify the operator, animal approval and contact route for their actual flights.

A scheduled operating change, announced in September

Asiana’s notice published September 14, 2026 states that its flights departing on or after December 17, 2026 will use Korean Air flight numbers and be operated by Korean Air. Booking and ticket transfers are scheduled during November and early December; the notice says the transfer schedule may change.

This is an upcoming operational transition announced in September, not a new pet-policy announcement on October 14. The notice does not explain whether a specific pet approval, carrier exception or assigned pet seat transfers automatically.

Which office handles changes and refunds?

A separate notice published September 16 says Asiana’s Reservation Center ends service on December 16, 2026, Korea Standard Time. Korean Air support starts December 17 KST.

For bookings already transferred, Asiana’s September 14 notice directs itinerary changes and refunds to Asiana or the ticketing agency through December 16 KST, and to Korean Air or the ticketing agency from December 17 KST. The published transition does not itself establish a new pet-fee refund entitlement.

Our practical recommendation for pet travelers

Keep the original itinerary, pet confirmation, payment receipt and carrier measurements together. Once the replacement flight details appear, ask the responsible office to check the animal’s acceptance against the actual operating carrier, aircraft, cabin and connection.

For a journey straddling December 17, review the outward and return flights separately. Ask which booking reference now contains the animal request, whether the carrier and seating remain suitable, and what must be completed before travel. Retain a clear answer for every pet and flight.

These are our planning recommendations; the airline notice does not announce that all pet reservations are canceled or guarantee that they remain unchanged. Use the Asiana planning guide and Korean Air guide as starting points, then obtain individual acceptance.
