Cayman removes rabies titre test for eligible no-risk origins

Dogs and cats from eligible no-risk origins no longer need the FAVN rabies antibody test. Confirm the origin, residence history and remaining entry requirements.

Who qualifies for the exemption?

The Cayman Islands Department of Agriculture has announced that dogs and cats originating in territories it classifies as having no rabies risk no longer need the FAVN rabies antibody test. The United Kingdom is one example named in the announcement; this is not an exemption for every European country.

Other import requirements still apply

The current import conditions confirm the exemption, but other requirements still apply. They specify at least three months’ residence in the country of origin/export and a 30-day interval before a rabies vaccination is valid for no-risk entry. An import permit, microchip, vaccinations, health certificate and parasite treatment remain necessary. Animals travelling by sea are classed as high risk.

Confirm the exemption before omitting a test

Before omitting the test, ask the Department of Agriculture to confirm your pet’s origin classification, residence history and paperwork. Generic passages in the conditions, checklist and FAQ still contain broader titre-test wording. Use the latest import conditions and your issued permit for the specific journey.
