ITA launches cabin travel for dogs up to 30 kg on selected Italian flights

A new option on selected domestic flights
ITA Airways announced Large Dog On Board on July 29, 2026, with flights starting August 3. The service allows dogs weighing up to 30 kg to travel in the cabin without a carrier on selected domestic Italian flights.
The launch provides up to two large-dog places: one for a dog weighing more than 10 kg and up to 15 kg in Economy, and one weighing more than 15 kg and up to 30 kg in Business, subject to aircraft configuration and availability. It is not a general extension of the same allowance to international flights.
Reserve through ITA and review the conditions
Booking is through ITA’s CIAO contact center. ITA recommends requesting the service at least four days before departure. The current service page specifies eligible flights, availability, the required harness and other safety equipment, veterinary documents and liability insurance.
The dog travels on a mat on the floor in its allocated area, not on a passenger seat. Read the full service conditions before choosing equipment or making a reservation.
