Independent planning guidance. Airline acceptance, destination entry permission and veterinary fitness are separate checks. Rules below concern the named operating airline; confirm every partner-operated sector independently.
1. Decide whether cabin travel is feasible
Ordinary pets are small dogs/cats in cabin; JetBlue does not carry animals as checked baggage. Mint is excluded. Pets are not permitted to/from the UK or EU, or to Barbados and Trinidad and Tobago under the current contract.
Confirm the exact destination and every operating carrier before paying. Do not infer return-direction eligibility where a restriction only names arrivals. A second airline’s pet place must be checked independently even when the passenger journey is sold as one itinerary.
2. Measure the carrier and the animal
Maximum carrier dimensions: 17 × 12.5 × 8.5 inches, length × width × height (43.18 × 31.75 × 21.59 cm). Hard or soft carriers must be secure, ventilated and leak-proof. One pet per carrier; the animal needs room to stand, move and turn.
A numeric loaded-weight ceiling and universal minimum age were not found in the current sources reviewed. This does not mean any weight is accepted. Send the actual dimensions, pet age and loaded weight to JetBlue.

3. Resolve the two-pet discrepancy
The July 29, 2026 contract, revision 103, caps a flight at six pets and says one pet per passenger. The live help page permits two, with separate carriers, a second seat and a second pet fee. Obtain explicit confirmation before planning two pets with one traveler.
Buying an extra passenger seat alone does not resolve that conflict or guarantee two pet places. Ask JetBlue to record the approved arrangement in the reservation. If the journey changes, ask again about both seats and both pet places.

4. Add the pet, then verify acceptance
JetBlue’s online check-in guidance links to adding pets through Bags & Extras. Use Manage Trips for an existing reservation. The pet page allows online/app/kiosk check-in from 24 hours ahead only after the pet is confirmed and its fee paid.
- Identify all operating flights and eligible seats.
- Add the pet service and review the displayed fee.
- Retain the confirmation for every flight.
- Contact JetBlue if the pet option is missing rather than assuming airport availability.
No firm pet-booking advance cutoff was verified; the 24-hour check-in opening is not a pet reservation deadline. Initial-ticket-purchase pet booking was not independently established in the current help text.

5. Obtain the current charge before committing
The current contract says a fee applies but does not give a dollar amount. The current pet page and optional-fees page did not establish a transport price in the reviewed text.
Ask for the charge per pet, direction and connecting itinerary, plus the second-seat fare if relevant. Confirm refund/change treatment before changing either booking. Carrier-purchase prices are equipment costs, not the pet transportation fee.

6. Allow time for the pet counter and security
Collect the JetPaws carrier tag from airport staff. The pet remains enclosed at the airport and on board, with under-seat stowage for taxi, takeoff and landing. Exit, bulkhead and other no-under-seat-storage seats are excluded.
Locate relief areas before travel, and allow for security re-entry if necessary. Keep the animal secure while staff inspect the carrier. Carry the original health/entry paperwork and pet confirmation where you can reach them without unpacking your luggage. Ask the airline to clarify your remaining baggage allowance: the pet page uses both “personal item” and “carry-on item” wording.

7. Service dogs follow disability-assistance rules
JetBlue’s contract permits up to two qualifying service dogs free, controlled by harness, leash or tether and fitting the handler’s floor space. Dogs in training are excluded. For reservations made more than 48 hours ahead, submit the DOT Air Transportation Form at least 48 hours before the original first departure.
DOT eligibility means a dog individually trained for disability-related work or tasks; emotional-support companionship alone is insufficient. The form requires health, behaviour and training information. A separate relief attestation may be required for flights scheduled for eight hours or longer.
For late reservations, applicable U.S. rules allow gate submission; when permitted notice is missed, the airline must make reasonable efforts without delaying the flight. Entry rules still apply. Use JetBlue’s official accessibility channel to confirm submission and itinerary association, and bring copies to the airport.

Prepare your route for review
Send the cities, dates, animal’s breed and age, loaded carrier weight, outside carrier measurements and proposed operating flights. Include any airline acceptance already received. A useful proposal identifies who accompanies the animal, where each handover occurs, what is included and which costs remain separate. Request a transport proposal.
