Plan animal travel
with Oman Air.

Confirm placement, animal space and documents for every flight.

For Oman Air-operated flights. Partner carriers need separate checks. Independent preparation guidance, not airline acceptance, border clearance or a complete entry checklist.

Confirm the operating flights first

Prepare every flight number, operating airline, airport and connection, plus the animal’s species, breed or cross, age, weight and loaded-carrier dimensions. Ask for written animal-space approval and a complete price before committing to the journey.

Oman Air’s conditions apply the operating partner’s operational rules to codeshares. A WY flight number alone does not establish which airline will accept the animal.

Treat accompanied checked-hold carriage, unaccompanied cargo and disability-related assistance as separate requests. Recheck approval after an aircraft, flight or routing change.

A published packet that needs reconfirmation

The official download index still links an animal request packet. Its February 2024 filename contains March 2023 information and June 2022 form issues. It is not a newly issued policy; reconfirm its limits for your flight.

We could not verify the newer passenger pet-policy page during this review. The dated packet below is a preparation reference, not proof that a particular flight currently accepts animals.

What the dated passenger packet says

The packet describes accompanied cats/dogs, no animals in cabins, and a request at least seven days ahead, allowing four working days for a decision. It gives 75 kg for animal plus crate; external limits are 150 cm long, 85 cm wide and 80 cm high.

It generally requires age above ten weeks, subject to destination acceptance. It lists restricted short-nosed and fighting/dangerous breeds, including specified mixes.

It sets Muscat transfers at no more than six hours unless specially arranged, total transport below 17 hours, and no animal transfers to/from other carriers. Confirm all these dated provisions before relying on them.

Ask separately about space and restrictions

No current flightwide animal quota, per-passenger allowance or shared-crate rule was verified. Ask how many animals and containers the actual aircraft can accept, how many you may book, and whether any same-species sharing is permitted. Do not infer permission to mix species.

Ask the accepting team to check your exact breed or cross, age, carrier, forecast temperatures, seasonal restrictions and every origin, transit and destination. A carrier-size calculation does not itself establish permission for multiple animals.

Confirm the current request form, submission channel, approval deadline, check-in location and arrival time. Oman Air’s official contact page lists its hub call centre as +968 24531111; ask it to identify the correct passenger-animal team.

Ordinary animals accepted as baggage are charged separately from the baggage allowance under the carriage conditions. Obtain a route-specific quote, including any separate handling or clearance charges.

Cargo has a separate booking process

Oman Air Cargo covers dogs, cats, birds and other eligible animals. It requests advance reservations with the date, route, container and health documents. Oman customers can contact cargosdu.mct@omanair.com; overseas customers are directed to their nearest cargo sales office.

Its page distinguishes cargo handling from pets accompanying a passenger as checked baggage. It describes a temperature-controlled animal facility in Muscat, with veterinary inspection. Confirm the actual transfer, feeding, handover and clearance arrangements for your booking.

Cargo carriers must allow natural standing, turning, sitting and lying, prevent leaks/escape, and have secure food/water dishes accessible without opening the door. The page also publishes excluded short-nosed breeds. Its list differs from the dated passenger packet: obtain written acceptance for the specific breed or cross.

Ask which cargo terminal receives the animal, who is responsible at each handover, and how disruptions or an overnight delay will be handled. A temperature-controlled facility is not a guarantee that every part of a journey is temperature-controlled.

Assistance dogs: confirm placement and eligibility

Oman Air’s conditions describe free checked-baggage carriage for dogs accompanying disabled passengers and for emotional-support or psychiatric service animals, subject to applicable law and airline conditions. For the latter categories, they request a licensed mental-health professional’s certificate issued within six months.

This published wording does not verify cabin acceptance for your route. Ask the airline to identify the applicable assistance category, the governing route rules and the placement it will approve before booking.

Ask what task-training or recognition evidence is accepted, including whether individually trained dogs qualify. We did not verify a worldwide accreditation-only rule. Do not assume a commercial registration or certificate establishes eligibility.

Get a written answer on dog count, cabin space if approved, seating, behaviour, leash/harness, any muzzle requirement, relief arrangements, fees and documents. These Oman Air-specific operational details were not verified in the accessible sources.

Keep U.S. sectors separate

For flights to, within or from the United States, DOT recognises individually task-trained dogs, including psychiatric service dogs, but excludes emotional-support animals and dogs still in training. Check the operating carrier’s DOT-form process and route-specific accommodation; those rules do not establish acceptance on a separate non-U.S. flight.

Airline acceptance is separate from entry

For import into Oman, Customs lists a prior veterinary permit through Bayan, identification and vaccination records, rabies-antibody evidence, arrival health documents and restricted breeds/mixes. Check the authority’s current timing and age requirements rather than using the airline’s minimum age as an entry rule.

Confirm the correct entry or transit pathway with the responsible authority for every country, including the return journey. Ask about the authorised arrival point, inspection and collection. Do not assume a Muscat connection is the same as importing into Oman.

Keep airline assistance recognition, animal-health entry and public-access rights separate. A disability-related animal category does not establish a general exemption from government entry requirements.

Keep the decision with the itinerary

Keep the approved animal booking, current form version, operating itinerary, original documents, carrier measurements, fees and arrival contact together. Record who confirmed any exception and when. Use the blank journey worksheet, connection guide and carrier guide to organise outstanding questions.

If a source and an airline reply differ, ask the responsible team to resolve the discrepancy for the exact flight. Send medical or identity documents only through the airline’s verified submission route.
