Avianca requires pet carriers in its VIP lounges

From July 31, pets including emotional-support dogs must remain in their carriers inside Avianca VIP lounges. Service dogs are exempt from the carrier requirement.

A lounge rule to check before the journey

Avianca’s official help page states that, from July 31, 2026, pets entering its VIP lounges must stay inside their carriers. This includes emotional-support dogs. Service dogs do not have to remain in a carrier.

The rule concerns lounge visits. It does not establish permission to carry an animal on a particular flight. The help page gives the effective date but does not display a publication date; October 12 is our publication and source-check date.

Keep your pet supervised

Owners must supervise their pets. Animals must not roam freely, sit on lounge furniture or enter food areas, and lounge utensils cannot be used for their food or water. Staff may ask for a pet to be removed if the conditions are not met.

When planning a connection, check both lounge access and the airline’s separate transport approval before relying on a lounge stop with your pet.
