Independent planning guidance, not a booking confirmation or complete government-entry checklist.
1. Check the proposed flight
Cabin cats/dogs need a soft carrier within 55 × 40 × 23 cm and 8 kg combined. Book early; capacity is limited without a published flight quota. My Bookings excludes USA flights; use the contact form. Larger animals need the Service Centre.
Pets must be at least twelve weeks old and weaned; pregnant animals are excluded. Bring two signed cabin-declaration copies to check-in.
From 4 May 2026, hold-crate ventilation openings must not exceed 25 × 25 mm for dogs or 19 × 19 mm for cats. Check the full specification: noncompliant crates are rejected.
Hold sharing permits two mutually accustomed pets, each at most 14 kg. Europe cabin carriage costs EUR 80 per segment plus a departure-dependent ticket service fee.
Newark-bound dogs must have avoided high-rabies-risk areas for six months before U.S. entry. The enquiry omits this conditional exception; confirm acceptance directly.

2. Arrange approval and handover
The hold checklist requires registration no later than 72 hours before departure and a confirmed booking. Each passenger may register at most two animals in one or two permitted containers, travelling in cabin and/or hold according to eligibility. This is a passenger limit, not the flight quota.
Every operating airline must confirm carriage. Snub-nosed and certain fighting-dog breeds are excluded from the hold. Other eligible listed fighting dogs may need special crates. Check breed eligibility before reserving.
Bring the pet to check-in approximately three hours before departure, with booking confirmation and official/veterinary documents. The checklist allows payment at the Service Centre or check-in. Ask baggage claim where to collect the animal on arrival.

3. Check the enquiry conditions
The enquiry service applies to Austrian-operated flights with three-digit OS flight numbers. Its U.S.-bound dog list names Washington DC, New York JFK, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles and Philadelphia; dogs must be at least six months old. Obtain written confirmation for the actual operating flight and resolve the Newark discrepancy above.

4. Resolve remaining questions
A cabin-specific registration cutoff, cabin carrier-sharing criteria, permission to mix species, numeric flight quota, and universal hold loaded-weight or crate-size ceiling were not established by these sources. Ask Austrian to approve the exact animals and containers.
Request the full itinerary price, currency, service and transfer charges, and pet-specific change/refund terms before paying. The selected fee example does not establish availability. Obtain the current crate specification, cabin declaration and any separate assistance-dog requirements from the official pet page. Airline acceptance and government entry permission require separate checks.
