Plan animal travel
with AZUR air.

Choose cabin, checked hold, cargo or guide-dog travel, then resolve the published conflicts before booking.

Independent planning guidance for flights operated by Russian ООО «АЗУР эйр». Not an acceptance decision or a complete country-entry checklist.

Choose the right travel arrangement

Ordinary cabin pets: start with the published 8 kg maximum including the carrier. Checked hold: the rules describe more than 8 kg and no more than 50 kg including the crate. Both require advance acceptance, not merely a passenger ticket. Animal travel is restricted to Economy in the detailed rules.

Above 50 kg, or without an accompanying passenger, ask about a separate cargo arrangement. The reference to cargo is not a promise that a live animal will be accepted on your route. Guide dogs and government working dogs have a different cabin process; do not apply the ordinary pet allowance to them.

Confirm the Russian operating airline

This guide concerns the Russian company ООО «АЗУР эйр», using azurair.ru. It is not a guide to Azur Air Ukraine or any other similarly named operator. Verify the actual operating carrier on every flight, not only the holiday brand or seller.

The rules cover scheduled and charter flights actually operated by this company. For a package holiday, request animal carriage through the tour operator when reserving or buying the tour. Obtain confirmation for outbound, return and connections separately; a different operator needs its own assessment.

Get a confirmed animal request before paying

The detailed rules require a confirmed special request in the passenger booking no later than 48 hours before scheduled departure. Request it at booking through the authorized agent or AZUR air Contact Centre, +7 495 374-55-14. For accessibility arrangements the airline also publishes call@azurair.ru.

Give the route and dates, species, breed or cross, age, number of animals and crates, outer crate dimensions and total loaded weight. Ask for a written acceptance reference, the approved placement and any restrictions before committing to non-refundable travel. Reconfirm following an aircraft or itinerary change.

The FAQ says the accompanying passenger must be older than 12, whereas the cabin rule refers to a legally capable passenger. For a minor accompanying an animal, obtain an explicit eligibility answer rather than treating the FAQ as unconditional permission.

Check species, age and shared-carrier plans

The rules list domesticated dogs, cats, canaries and budgerigars. They exclude rodents, reptiles and other listed non-pet categories, wild animals, sick animals and experimental animals. Do not assume an unlisted species is eligible. The detailed cabin provisions include birds, while the FAQ cabin paragraph names cats and dogs: obtain explicit cabin approval for a bird before buying travel.

No complete minimum-age, weaning, breed or brachycephalic policy was established in the reviewed animal provisions. Ask about the individual animal, fitness and route; absence of a published ban is not acceptance.

The FAQ explicitly permits one animal per container and one cabin container per passenger. No exception for litters, cohabiting animals or a mother with young was verified. Do not plan shared carriers. Hold containers per passenger and combining cabin and hold pets remain unverified: submit the full arrangement for approval. An aircraft-wide quota is not a per-passenger allowance.

Prepare the cabin carrier

The animal and carrier together must not exceed 8 kg. The carrier’s length + width + height must not exceed 115 cm and it must fit safely under the seat in front. No verified maximum for each individual side was found: obtain the actual under-seat limits for your aircraft before buying a carrier.

The animal must be able to stand fully and turn around. Use a strong ventilated container with a secure closure, leakproof base, absorbent lining that cannot spill, and carrying handles. Bird cages need an opaque cover. The carrier remains closed on board; pets cannot be released. The detailed rules prohibit feeding during check-in and flight.

Pet seats are aircraft-specific, and dogs and cats may not occupy the same row. The FAQ excludes emergency-exit seating for pet passengers. Do not confuse ordinary hand-baggage dimensions or a tariff label with permission for a larger pet carrier.

Check hold dimensions and route exclusions

The detailed rules place animals over 8 kg and up to 50 kg, crate included, in the baggage/cargo compartment as checked baggage. The baggage page gives a maximum sum of three crate dimensions of 203 cm. The fee table, however, labels hold-animal products as over 203 cm. Do not treat that price label as oversize acceptance; ask the airline to resolve the discrepancy.

The international airport tariff marks the listed hold-animal services unavailable on Phu Quoc–Moscow and Cam Ranh–Moscow. Do not assume a return flight has the same acceptance as the outbound flight, or that this notice prohibits every cabin or cargo option.

Confirm crate construction and individual dimensions, loading-door clearance, aircraft capability, weather restrictions, handling at each airport and transfer or recheck arrangements. A numerical weight limit does not establish that every aircraft or airport can carry your animal.

Resolve the conflicting flight quotas

The detailed rules state a maximum of four pet containers of one non-antagonistic species, or no more than two of each antagonistic kind. They separately list a maximum of two guide/working dogs. This is aircraft-level wording, not an allowance per passenger or permission to share a crate.

The FAQ instead says only three animals may travel in the cabin. These numbers count different things and may describe different limits; neither establishes remaining availability. Ask which combined aircraft and cabin limits apply, how species compatibility is assessed and how guide/working dogs are counted. As a stricter preparation baseline, plan for no more than three ordinary cabin animals while also respecting the aircraft container/species limits; these are not interchangeable counts. Get each animal and container confirmed before purchase rather than selecting the largest published figure.

Distinguish guide dogs from government working dogs

The baggage page describes free cabin carriage without a container for trained guide dogs accompanying blind or deaf passengers, with veterinary evidence, a collar and muzzle, secured at the handler’s feet in the rear rows. The detailed rules and accessibility page specifically refer to passengers without sight. Ask the assistance team to resolve hearing-assistance eligibility for your journey.

The rules request disability evidence for the passenger, proof of the dog’s special training and veterinary documents; the working-dog category also requires evidence that the handler belongs to a federal executive authority’s canine service. That Russian working-dog category is not a general English-language “service dog” category. Guide dogs are free; government working dogs are chargeable under the rules.

Arrange approval and space at least 48 hours ahead. The rules specify a collar and muzzle throughout check-in and flight and an aisle seat toward the rear with the guide dog secured at the handler’s feet. Ask which documents apply to your category and how the aircraft-level two-dog limit is applied.

Acceptance of other disability-assistance dogs, psychiatric service dogs, owner-trained dogs or emotional-support animals was not established. Neither an online registration nor an assistance label alone proves eligibility. Keep airline recognition, border entry and public-access rights separate.

Resolve document contradictions with the airline and authorities

Prepare veterinary identification and health records, vaccination evidence and the export, import and transit documents required for the actual itinerary. The detailed rules discuss a veterinary passport, government-veterinary examination and different accompanying certificates by destination. In the domestic-travel subsection they request a notarized authorization for a non-owner, whereas the international subsection says the transporter must be named as owner in the veterinary passport. Do not assume authorization alone resolves international acceptance: confirm this before purchase. Ask which exact documents and issuer are required for your case.

The airline’s pages do not agree on vaccination timing: the baggage page describes a one-month minimum before travel while the FAQ says two months; both also mention a one-year outer limit. The FAQ additionally lists a dog-club breeding-value certificate. For preliminary scheduling, use two months as the stricter preparation baseline within the published one-year window, but do not treat that as a universal legal rule or proof of acceptance. Have the airline confirm how it applies to the actual vaccination or booster and itinerary before purchase; ask your vet about valid vaccination timing rather than revaccinating solely to fit a website summary.

Obtain the airline’s current acceptance checklist and separately verify origin, transit, destination and return requirements with the competent veterinary authorities. Check identification, vaccination validity, any blood test, permit, certificate timing, approved arrival point and inspection. Government requirements for a specific route have not been independently verified in this guide. Airline approval never replaces entry clearance.

Request an itinerary-specific total

Animals, carriers and their food are outside the free baggage allowance; qualifying guide dogs have a separate free-carriage provision. Obtain the total, currency, payment location and animal-specific refund or change conditions for every flight.

The international airport tariff currently lists EUR 65 for a cabin-animal product labelled “up to 10 kg”. This conflicts with the 8 kg acceptance limit in the rules and baggage page: it is not authority to bring a 10 kg cabin animal. Hold tariffs vary by weight band and flight duration, and their oversize labels conflict with the baggage page. This guide therefore does not turn the table into a guaranteed quote. A listed airport payment option also does not remove advance confirmation.

Plan check-in, connections and collection

The baggage page recommends arriving at least two hours before departure and completing airport veterinary control before check-in. Allow additional time for the actual airport’s veterinary hours, queues and any export paperwork; two hours is not a guarantee that a complex process can be completed.

Carry the confirmed animal request and originals of required documents. Agree where the crate is accepted and collected, whether you must reclaim it during transit, who handles the animal between flights and what happens after a delay or aircraft change. No through-transfer guarantee was verified.

Plan feeding and watering with your vet and airport handling team in advance; the detailed rules prohibit feeding during check-in and flight. Do not open the cabin carrier on board. If a published condition conflicts with the animal’s needs, resolve it before travel rather than expecting a check-in exception.

Treat cargo as a separate acceptance enquiry

AZUR air’s cargo page says it accepts shipments only from authorized cargo agents with contracts. It publishes cargo.sales@azurair.ru for enquiries. Ask for a suitable authorized agent and explicit live-animal acceptance for the exact route, animal and crate.

The page’s general freight environmental specifications are not animal-welfare operating limits and must not be applied to a pet shipment. No complete live-animal cargo species, breed, crate, temperature, age or station policy was verified.

Request a written all-in quote and confirm origin and arrival cargo terminals, handover time, consignee, veterinary clearance and collection arrangements. Do not take an animal to a cargo terminal solely because passenger rules refer animals over 50 kg to cargo.
