1. Resolve the itinerary before booking
Contact the reservations department 48 hours ahead. Accompanied hold-animal Cairo transit remains suspended.

Prepare a flight-by-flight request: operating airline, airports, connection time, species, breed, age, animal measurements, loaded carrier weight and dimensions. Ask for written acceptance and the service code on every flight. A passenger ticket alone should not be your evidence that an animal space has been reserved.
The conditions, dated 2010, require health/vaccination documents and any destination or transit permits. Animals carried as baggage, including container and food, incur excess-baggage charges outside the free allowance. The airline retains discretion over carriage method and flight animal numbers.

2. Cabin space and container limits
Cabin cats/dogs: 8 kg loaded; 55 × 40 × 20 cm. Quota: two animals per seating zone, not per aircraft. Sharing needs confirmation.
Source: EgyptAir: traveling with pets. Checked October 16, 2026.
The linked December 2019 tariff recommends registering within 24 hours of booking; pets must be weaned and at least 12 weeks old. Check in with an agent 30 minutes earlier than the recommended time. It separately specifies one carrier per passenger, replacing the carry-on allowance, and under-seat placement.

Ask which cabin zones accept pets and whether your precise species combination may share. Do not buy a second ticket assuming that it creates another animal allowance.
3. Checked hold and sharing questions
Hold sharing: two comparable-sized compatible adults, or two same-litter animals up to six months; the 23 kg basis is unclear.
Source: EgyptAir: traveling with pets. Checked October 16, 2026.
The 2019 tariff places its same-species 14 kg-per-animal and 45 kg-loaded clauses under “Animals in Cabin.” This structural inconsistency establishes neither cabin permission nor an operational hold ceiling. Confirm the applicable limit.
Source: EgyptAir: December 2019 tariff, Rules 40 and 55. Checked October 16, 2026.
Ask EgyptAir for aircraft-specific carrier dimensions, flight quotas, passenger/container limits, breed restrictions and seasonal exclusions before committing to a routing.
4. Get an itinerary-specific price
The tariff has USD/local-equivalent matrices for cabin up to 8 kg and hold bands up to 23, 32 and 45 kg. Its applicability and current amounts need confirmation; no universal flat fee is established here.
Source: EgyptAir: December 2019 tariff, Rules 40 and 55. Checked October 16, 2026.
Request a written itemised quote by direction and segment, stating currency, taxes, airport charges, loaded weight band, shared-carrier pricing, and change/no-show/refund deductions. Ask whether a connection generates another charge and whether an operational refusal triggers a refund.
5. Cargo is a separate arrangement
EgyptAir Cargo transports a broader range of live animals. It requires advance arrangements and confirmed space throughout the route, including other carriers. Health documents and a live-animal shipper’s certification are generally required. Packaging must be clean, leakproof and escape-resistant, with live-animal labelling and handling instructions. Animals must be healthy, fed and watered; advanced pregnancy is generally excluded. Accompanying food contributes to chargeable weight.

Use the official cargo sales-agent directory to identify the departure-country booking contact.
Ask for the cargo acceptance deadline, handover terminal, collection process, handling/veterinary costs and a complete quote. Passenger-pet fees and cabin allowances do not price a cargo shipment. Confirm whether the proposed routing is actually offered; a cargo product description does not establish availability.
6. Service-dog itinerary questions
Service dogs: approval/documents 48 hours ahead; free. US/Canada itinerary categories include EgyptAir-operated connections originating/ending there. US: two task-trained dogs, psychiatric included; ESAs use pet rules. Canada: broader disability tasks, one dog. Other itineraries: one guide/hearing dog. Both non-US categories exclude pit bulls and request training proof.

The tariff requests professional-institution training certification and retains broader ESA wording; resolve these discrepancies with EgyptAir.
Source: EgyptAir: December 2019 tariff, Rules 40 and 55. Checked October 16, 2026.
No approved-organisation list or owner-training pathway was established. Ask which evidence your itinerary category requires; check each operating airline. A non-North-American connection alone does not change EgyptAir’s category. For US owner-training/forms, consult our service-dog guide and request route-specific review.
The conditions’ 2010 guide-dog clause accepts alternative evidence, including credible verbal assurances, unlike the certificate provisions. This does not establish owner-training acceptance.

7. Service-dog documents, placement and control
The assistance page requests a training certificate, travel documents, harness and leash. It places the dog at the passenger’s feet rather than on a seat, without a weight/container limit, subject to prior arrangements and aircraft suitability. Disruptive or oversized dogs may be moved to a crate in the hold or the passenger may be offloaded. It also requires an empty crate for connections.

This is a published airline warning, not a guarantee that hold carriage is available or a conclusion about applicable disability rights. Resolve floor-space measurements and the contingency plan before departure. Muzzle rules, service-dog flight quota and online submission remain unverified. Ask whether additional floor space is available and whether any seat charge applies.
The assistance page also retains mental-health-professional letter wording. Do not treat it as proof that an emotional-support animal qualifies on a US itinerary.

US category: DOT transport/relief forms, two copies. No aisle/exit-row placement.
Source: EgyptAir: traveling with pets. Checked October 16, 2026.
Confirm the current form versions, which segments require relief documentation, submission method and deadline, and whether hard copies are needed at both check-in and the gate. Use the current DOT-form links and ask EgyptAir which version to submit. The forms themselves do not confirm a reservation.
8. Check government entry separately
Use our service-dog guide and US destination guide as starting points, then verify the responsible government authority for your animal and route. This page does not independently establish Egypt, Saudi, Canadian, US or transit-country import eligibility. Ask about identification, rabies records, certificates, permits, inspections and arrival arrangements. Airline approval and government permission are separate checks.
Do not rely on a general airline webpage as the final import checklist. Confirm destination restrictions, breed acceptance and all operating-carrier rules in writing.
