Cabin pets and carrier fit

Domestic cabin travel permits dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and small household birds. Pets must be at least eight weeks old. Ordinary pets cannot travel internationally or in the cargo hold.

Hard-sided carriers: maximum 18 × 14 × 8 inches; soft-sided: 18 × 14 × 11 inches, in length × width × height order. Soft-sided carriers are recommended. The animal must stand, turn and lie naturally inside, and the carrier must fit under the seat. One adult dog or cat per container.

No numeric pet-plus-carrier weight ceiling was verified. Carrier dimensions alone do not establish comfortable fit.

Flight quota is separate from your allowance

The carriage contract limits each flight to ten pet containers and each passenger to one container; advance reservations are required. The pet webpage separately limits each passenger to one pet. Do not treat the flightwide quota as an individual allowance.

A passenger with a trained service dog may also bring one eligible cabin pet. Pets stay enclosed throughout travel; row 1 and exit rows are unavailable.

Booking, fees and airline contacts

Add Cabin Pet in Passenger Info during booking, or use Manage Trip → Add Pet in Cabin afterward.

The published standard charge is US$149 per pet, per direction, non-refundable. Confirm the total for your itinerary before paying, including how separate tickets or changes affect the charge. Payment is available during booking or at pet check-in.

Besides the carrier, Frontier permits either a personal item or a carry-on; carry-on fees apply.

Use Frontier’s official contact page for phone, chat, WhatsApp and accessibility requests. Resolve seating and animal acceptance before departure.

Service dogs, emotional support and seating

Fully task-trained dogs, including psychiatric service dogs, qualify; emotional-support animals and dogs still in training do not. Frontier permits up to two service dogs per passenger with a disability. Its domestic minimum is four months.

Keep the dog harnessed, leashed or tethered and controlled. Disruptive behavior or a direct safety threat may prevent boarding. A carrier is optional; an elected carrier must be stowed underneath for taxi, takeoff and landing.

Qualifying service dogs travel without charge. They must fit under the seat or on an eligible lap, never on a seat or blocking evacuation. No exit-row seating; the contract prohibits lap placement in row 1. Frontier’s webpage additionally limits lap dogs to the size of a child under two and prohibits encroachment on neighboring seats.

DOT form, deadlines and late bookings

Add the service-animal request during booking or update the reservation. Complete the DOT Service Animal Air Transportation Form. For bookings made more than 48 hours ahead, submit at least 48 hours before departure.

For bookings made less than 48 hours ahead, Frontier’s webpage directs submission to airport staff on arrival; its portal also requires presentation at the departure gate. Carry a copy throughout the journey. Ask Frontier about a booking made exactly 48 hours ahead.

The portal offers automated processing for typed PDFs and says handwritten forms can take up to seven days. That processing estimate does not replace the late-booking pathway. Submission is not guaranteed boarding approval.

No Frontier-specific relief-form requirement was verified; consult the U.S. forms reference for flights scheduled for eight hours or longer.

International service dogs and entry checks

Frontier’s international age statements conflict: its Family & Pets page says four months, while Special Services says six. For dogs entering or returning to the U.S. from low-risk countries, CDC requires at least six months, a readable microchip, healthy appearance and a CDC Dog Import Form receipt. This CDC pathway applies only when the dog has remained in low-risk or rabies-free countries during the preceding six months.

Do not apply U.S.-entry paperwork indiscriminately to every outbound country. Check the destination, transit and return requirements separately. Frontier also calls for a health certificate for international service-animal travel; domestic destinations or territories can impose their own requirements. Airline acceptance does not establish border entry or local public-access rights.

Connections and final checks

No blanket prohibition on domestic cabin-pet connections was verified. Confirm animal space, operating carrier and carrier fit on every sector, including the return. Partner-operated sectors may use different rules; an international connection is not a way around Frontier’s ordinary-pet restriction.

Keep written confirmation of animal acceptance, seating, document deadlines and fees. Recheck after itinerary or aircraft changes. Plan relief opportunities and disruption time using the connection guide and journey worksheet. Send personal documents only through verified airline channels.
