PETS DELIVERY EXPERT

Flying with a pet
on S7 Airlines.

Match the animal, container and journey before buying a ticket.

Independent planning guidance. Published FAQs establish selected pet arrangements and a narrow guide-dog category; unresolved acceptance details need direct airline confirmation. This page cannot approve an animal, establish government entry eligibility or reserve flight capacity.

1. Arrange acceptance

S7 accepts approved dogs, cats and birds carried by passengers older than 18. Add the pet during ticket purchase on the website or, for an existing ticket, through My Bookings. Animals above the 50 kg combined limit and other species require a separate cargo assessment.

S7: booking.

Obtain approval for the actual operating flight before committing to travel. The reviewed passenger FAQs do not establish a universal advance-notice deadline, dedicated application form or third-party-agent procedure. Ask S7 for the applicable cutoff and written confirmation; submitting a request does not reserve pet capacity.

2. Under the seat

The combined pet-and-carrier limit is 10 kg. A rigid container must fit within 55 × 40 × 20 cm; a framed soft carrier may measure up to 55 × 40 × 25 cm. It must fit beneath the seat ahead. Provide ventilation, a secure fastening and a waterproof base with absorbent lining. Keep the pet inside throughout your time aboard.

3. Adjacent seat

Book this option together with your own ticket, through the website, S7 chat or an airline sales office. The pet and rigid container may weigh up to 23 kg; maximum dimensions are 55 × 40 × 40 cm. Special straps secure it to the seat. Soft carriers, Business Class and extra-comfort seats are excluded. The pet ticket adds no meal or hand baggage; any checked-baggage allowance depends on the fare. Ask for the pet ticket’s change and refund conditions.

4. Checked pets and cargo

Checked carriage permits up to 50 kg including the container, but S7 flags a 32 kg limit for many countries: confirm the exact route. Use a strong wooden or plastic container, not an all-mesh cage, with a carrying handle, ventilation, secure lock and waterproof floor. Remove or immobilise wheels. The animal must stand upright and turn; cover a bird’s container with light-blocking fabric.

S7: hold.

Cargo is a separate acceptance process, not guaranteed by a passenger booking. S7 Cargo excludes rodents and reptiles; bees and bumblebees require separate agreement. It requires species-appropriate IATA LAR packaging, veterinary paperwork and a signed shipper’s certification in two copies. International shipments also undergo customs procedures. Ask its cargo team for the current route, document schedule, handling arrangements and quote.

5. Passenger limits and flight capacity

Each adult passenger may take one cabin container, either under-seat or on an adjacent seat. S7 describes up to two adults or three same-litter puppies or kittens sharing it. A passenger may arrange up to three checked containers. Contact S7’s Contact Centre to book animals in separate containers.

S7: numbers.

The published cabin ceiling is five pet containers for the entire flight, not five per passenger. S7 may further restrict acceptance for aircraft, route or load. Young animals sharing under the litter exception must be no older than six months. A non-heated hold cannot accept checked animals.

S7: capacity.

A shared-container allowance does not establish permission to mix cats, dogs or birds. Confirm species compatibility, space and combined weight. No total hold-container quota or separate guide-dog count was established by the reviewed FAQs.

6. Obtain the full price

The charge depends on route and combined animal-and-carrier weight. The website quotes and accepts payment during ticket purchase; existing ticket holders can ask the Contact Centre for the amount.

S7: charges.

S7’s travel article describes the adjacent-seat option as an adult passenger fare and under-seat or checked carriage as separately charged. For shared checked containers, it describes two compatible adults weighing no more than 14 kg each, with room to stand and turn. Confirm this arrangement directly before relying on it.

Request a total for every flight, taxes and any handling charges, plus cancellation terms. This guide contains no live fare, cargo quotation or confirmed allocation.

7. Route restrictions

S7’s route FAQ lists cargo-only pet carriage to Ireland, and to the UAE and Iran with stated guide-dog exceptions requiring supporting approval or documents. It describes Hong Kong arrivals as cargo-only, while departures may use cabin or checked carriage. Cabin carriage from Urumqi is excluded; the reverse direction is permitted in the FAQ. Treat these as airline screening flags and confirm the actual flight. They do not establish current government admission rules or a currently operating service.

S7: routes.

Check each operating carrier, direction and airport before booking. Use the destination guides to locate the relevant government requirements. A guide-dog exception in an airline summary is not an import permit.

8. Guide dogs

S7’s dedicated FAQ covers guide dogs accompanying passengers without sight or hearing, carried free above the baggage allowance. It requires a training certificate, collar, leash and muzzle, with the dog secured at the passenger’s feet. The FAQ does not specify accepted issuers, recognised organisations, owner-training alternatives, disability proof, dog count, notice period or a detailed behaviour test. Other service-dog categories need separate confirmation.

9. Prepare for departure

For under-seat and checked pets, online check-in is possible, but collect the boarding pass at the airport counter. Adjacent-seat pets require airport check-in.

S7: check-in.

Discuss fitness to fly with your veterinarian. S7 advises walking the animal before departure, keeping the carrier ventilated, adding a familiar toy and avoiding tranquillisers. Ask your veterinarian to tailor feeding and hydration to the animal and journey.

S7: preparation.

S7 discourages travel for puppies and kittens younger than eight weeks; its FAQ requires a Form 1 veterinary certificate if such travel within Russia is necessary. Do not read that conditional statement as guaranteed airline or international acceptance.

S7: young pets.

10. Airline checks and government entry

S7’s document FAQ asks travellers to establish the required veterinary documents with departure-airport veterinary control in advance. Its route-specific document statements should not be treated as a complete current legal checklist.

S7: documents.

Ask the relevant export and destination authorities for the current identification, vaccination, testing, certification and permit sequence, including rules applying to guide dogs. Keep government clearance separate from airline approval. S7’s guide-dog FAQ and travel article differ in their veterinary wording; no universal vaccination interval or document exemption is asserted here. For broader context, see our service-dog reference.
